The short answer
Pick WipeMark for one full-size cut-out with no account or daily counter. Pick PicWish if you want its desktop app's uncompressed output, large batch tools or its ID-photo and enhancer extras, and are fine with the non-HD cap on its free web and mobile tiers.
| WipeMark | PicWish | |
|---|---|---|
| Free download size | Full size, up to 25 MP | Free plan gives 'limited non-HD downloads per day'; images at or above 2048x2048 are compressed on the web and app, unless you use the desktop app's original-resolution option |
| Watermark on free result | None | PicWish's background-remover FAQ says free users can download 50 images a day without a watermark; a separate FAQ entry asks why a watermark appears on some saved images after payment, suggesting the rule is not the same everywhere |
| Account needed | No | Not stated for the web background remover |
| Free limit | No daily limit | 50 free, non-HD background removals a day; Pro raises this to 100 HD downloads a day |
| Cheapest paid plan | None, it is free | $3.33 a month billed yearly at $39.99, or $6.99 billed monthly, for 100 HD downloads a day and 450 credits; a separate page on the site states the plan 'starts at $5.99' |
| What gets uploaded | A copy of at most 1024 px; nothing stored | The full image; PicWish's privacy page says images are permanently deleted one hour after you last edit or close the page, and are not shared with third parties |
| Batch / API | No / No | Yes, 100 photos online and up to 10,000 on the desktop app / Yes, for background removal, object removal and photo enhancement |
| Erase objects | Yes, free at /erase-image | Yes, a manual brush, rectangle and lasso tool plus an automatic mode for text and logo watermarks; HD download of the result is gated to Pro |
| Apps | Web only | Web, Windows, Mac, iOS and Android |
What each tool is
PicWish is a photo-editing platform with background removal, object removal and other AI tools, gating HD output behind a daily limit or a paid plan; WipeMark is a free, single-purpose web tool for one photo at a time. PicWish's background-remover page and its object-remover page sit inside a broader product that also covers photo enhancement, ID photos and face cutouts, with apps on web, Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.
WipeMark has no account layer or editor around it: background removal on the home page, and erasing unwanted things from your own photos at /erase-image.
The free tier in detail
PicWish's free tier gives 50 background removals a day, but caps them below full HD. Its background-remover FAQ states: "users can download 50 images per day for free without watermarks." Its pricing page describes the free plan's downloads as "Limited Non-HD downloads per day," and PicWish's own FAQ page adds that images at or above 2048x2048 pixels "will be automatically compressed on the PicWish online and PicWish APP," with only the desktop app's "Original resolution" setting avoiding this. The Pro plan raises the daily allowance to 100 HD downloads.
WipeMark's free download is the full-size cut-out, up to 25 megapixels, as PNG, JPG or WebP, with no daily limit, no compression threshold and no account.
Quality and edge cases
We have no documented, vendor-stated quality comparison between PicWish and WipeMark, so we make no claim either way. PicWish's own background-remover page runs a comparison table naming remove.bg and Picsart as its competitors, which tells you who PicWish positions itself against, not how its results compare to WipeMark's. For background on what WipeMark's own model does, see how AI background removal works.
Privacy and uploads
PicWish's privacy page states uploaded images are deleted an hour after you last use them and are not shared with third parties; WipeMark sends only a reduced copy and stores nothing. PicWish's privacy policy, dated August 28, 2024, states: "All images you upload will be permanently deleted automatically from the server 1 hour after you last edited or closed the image processing page. Meanwhile, we will not share your data with any third parties." Its FAQ adds, "Your pictures will never be used for other purposes." The pricing page also claims ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27701 and GDPR compliance. Whether uploads are used to train PicWish's models is not stated; its background-remover page only says the model generally "is trained on millions of images," without saying whose.
WipeMark sends a reduced copy of your photo, at most 1024 pixels on the long side, to its server for the background step. The full-size cut-out is assembled in your browser, so the original file never leaves your device, and nothing is stored or logged. See our privacy page for details.
Where PicWish is better
PicWish is the stronger pick if you need high-volume batch processing or uncompressed desktop output. It has features WipeMark does not try to match:
- A desktop app with an "Original resolution" option that skips the 2048x2048 compression threshold applied on the web and mobile app.
- Batch processing for 100 photos online and up to 10,000 images on the desktop app.
- Three separate APIs, for background removal, object removal and photo enhancement.
- An automatic watermark and logo removal mode, alongside manual brush, rectangle and lasso selection.
- Native apps across Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.
- Extra tools like ID photo generation, face cutout and image enhancement.
WipeMark handles one photo at a time, has no batch mode, no API, no desktop or mobile app, needs a connection for the background step, and is new.
When to use which
Use WipeMark for a single, full-size cut-out with no account, no daily cap and no compression threshold; use PicWish when you need its desktop batch tools, APIs or extra editing features. If you want one clean, full-resolution PNG today, WipeMark gives you that directly regardless of size. If you're processing thousands of product photos and want uncompressed desktop output or an API across background removal, object removal and enhancement, PicWish's tooling is built for that scale. See our remove.bg alternatives roundup for more options.
Free, full size, no sign-up and no watermark.
Remove a background nowHow to switch
There is no account to set up on WipeMark's side.
- Open WipeMark and drop in a JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC photo up to 25 megapixels.
- Wait about 20 seconds for the mask.
- Use the Restore or Erase brush to fix any edge.
- Pick a transparent, white, black or custom background.
- Download as PNG for transparency, or JPG or WebP for a solid background.
If something else in the photo needs removing, such as a logo or an unwanted object, use the eraser. See every comparison on the compare page.
Questions people ask
Is PicWish's background remover free?
Yes, with a quality cap. PicWish's own background-remover page says free users can download 50 images a day without a watermark, but its pricing page clarifies the free plan gives 'limited non-HD downloads per day,' and images at or above 2048x2048 pixels get compressed on the web and app unless you use the desktop app's original-resolution setting.
Does PicWish put a watermark on free downloads?
PicWish's background-remover FAQ says free users can download up to 50 images a day without a watermark. A separate FAQ entry on the same help page asks why a watermark shows up on a saved image after payment, which suggests the no-watermark rule does not apply identically across every PicWish flow.
How much does PicWish cost?
PicWish's pricing page lists a monthly subscription from $3.33 a month, billed yearly at $39.99, or $6.99 billed monthly, both giving 100 HD downloads a day. A separate page on the same site states the plan 'starts at $5.99,' so the two figures do not match; check PicWish's current pricing page before buying.
What is the best free alternative to PicWish for a full-size HD cut-out?
WipeMark gives the full-size cut-out, up to 25 megapixels, for free with no daily limit, no account and no compression threshold. If you need PicWish's 10,000-image desktop batch or its ID-photo and enhancer tools, WipeMark does not offer those.
Does PicWish remove objects and watermarks, not just backgrounds?
Yes. PicWish has a separate object-remover tool with a manual brush, rectangle and lasso selection, plus an automatic mode aimed at text and logo watermarks, and it can batch up to 50 images at once into a zip file. Its pricing table lists manual object removal as a free feature and HD downloads as a Pro one.
