Questions people ask

Is my photo or signature uploaded?

No. The resizer runs entirely in your browser, in a background worker on your own device. The photo, the signature and the finished file never leave it. The only things the page downloads are its own code and a small JPEG encoder.

How does it hit an exact KB size?

It encodes the picture for real, measures the file, and adjusts the JPEG quality step by step until the file is as good as it can be while staying under your limit. What the page shows is the exact file you download.

Why is 20 KB shown as 20,000 bytes?

Some portals count a KB as 1,000 bytes and some as 1,024. A file under 20,000 bytes passes both, so the maximum is read that way. A minimum of 10 KB is read as 10,240 bytes for the same reason.

My signature is under the minimum KB. What happens?

A small signature can be under 5 KB even at full quality. The tool then adds empty bytes inside the JPEG until it reaches your minimum. The picture is exactly the same; the file is simply big enough for the form to accept it, and the page tells you when it has done this.

Can I set the size in centimetres?

Yes. Choose Centimetres and a DPI (200 is common on Indian exam forms). 3.5 × 4.5 cm at 200 DPI is 276 × 354 pixels, and the DPI is written into the file so a portal that reads it sees the same number.

Can it make the background white for an exam photo?

Yes. White background finds you in the photo with a small model from Google (MediaPipe, Apache-2.0) and makes everything else white. The model runs on your device; the first time, it downloads about 4 MB. Check the form's own rules: some, like passports, don't allow an edited background.

What does Clean up paper do?

For a photo of a signature, it turns grey or yellow paper pure white, makes the ink darker, and frames the box around the ink. It all happens on your device.

Will the portal accept the file?

Use Check a file: drop the file you are about to upload and every rule that can be measured, format, KB and pixels, shows pass or fail with the real number. Things like face position and background colour are not checked; follow the form's own instructions for those.
