Questions people ask

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened, redrawn and saved again in your browser, on your own device. Certificates and ID documents never leave it.

How does it get a PDF under exactly 200 KB?

Each page is drawn as a picture and saved as a JPEG; the whole PDF is then built and measured, and the quality is adjusted until the file is as good as it can be under your limit. If even the lowest quality is too big, it tries again at a lower resolution, from 150 dpi down to 50.

Can I make one PDF from several photos?

Yes. Pick up to 20 photos together; each becomes a page in the order you picked them, at A4 scale, and the whole PDF is fitted under your limit.

Will the text still be selectable?

No. Pages become pictures, which is what lets a scan shrink this far. That is fine for uploading to a form, but keep your original file.

What does Black & white do?

It saves the pages in grayscale. A scanned certificate loses nothing it needs, and the same limit leaves more room for sharp text.

It says the PDF is password-protected.

Open it with its password in your PDF reader, save or print a copy without one, and drop that copy here. The tool does not try to break passwords.
