Resize a photo to 50 KB
For forms that cap the photo at 50 KB, often with a 20 or 30 KB minimum. The photo is resized on your device and never uploaded.

How to do it
- 1Drop the photoJPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC, straight from your camera.
- 2Add the minimum and sizeType the form's minimum KB, and its pixel or cm size if it gives one.
- 3Download the JPGThe KB shown is the real file, under 50,000 bytes.
50 KB is room to spare, if the size is right
At the sizes forms ask for, 50 KB is generous. A 200 × 230 pixel photo, the size the SBI notices prefer, is usually well under 50 KB even at high quality. Where people get stuck is the other way round: a phone photo at full size is several megabytes, and the minimum, often 20 KB, catches files that were squeezed too hard by another tool.
How it lands between the limits
The tool encodes the photo as a JPEG, measures it, and adjusts the quality until the file is the best it can be under 50 KB. If you set a minimum and the result is under it, which happens with small, plain photos, it adds empty bytes inside the file until it reaches the minimum. Forms check only the byte count, so the file passes, and the picture is exactly the same.
Both limits are read strictly: 50 KB means 50,000 bytes, and a 20 KB minimum means 20,480 bytes, so the file passes whether the portal counts 1,000 or 1,024 bytes to a kilobyte.
Pixels and centimetres
If the form gives a size, set it. In Pixels, type it as given, for example 200 × 230. In Centimetres, type the size and the DPI, for example 3.5 × 4.5 cm at 200 DPI, which works out to 276 × 354 pixels. The crop box takes the form's shape, so you choose what is in the frame instead of having the photo squashed.
Before you upload
Use Check a file on the file you are about to upload. It shows the real format, KB and pixels against the rules, with pass or fail on each, and Fix it sends the file straight back to the resizer if something fails.
The rules for each exam, read from its own notice, are on the exam photo sizes pages.
Forms that use these limits
From the official notices we have read, with the pages they are on listed on each exam page:
- SBI PO and SBI Clerk (Junior Associates) 2026: photograph 20–50 KB at 200 × 230 pixels (preferred), 200 DPI, light background; left thumb impression 20–50 KB at 240 × 240 pixels.
- India Post GDS 2026: photograph 30–100 KB, 320 × 400 pixels recommended, plain white or light background.
- CTET September 2026: photograph 10–100 KB at 3.5 × 4.5 cm.
Each of these has its own page under exam photo sizes, set to the right numbers.
Why another tool's file failed
A file that "looked fine" is usually rejected for one of three reasons. It was under the minimum, because the other tool squeezed it as hard as it could. It was a PNG renamed to .jpg, which some portals detect from the file's first bytes. Or it was 50 KB by one way of counting and 51 by the other. This tool checks all three: it writes a real JPEG, keeps above the minimum, and counts KB the strict way in both directions.
Questions people ask
How do I make a photo under 50 KB?
Drop it into the tool above; the limit is already 50 KB. The photo is saved as a JPEG at the best quality that fits under 50 KB, measured on the real file. If the form gives a pixel size, set it under Dimensions first.
The form says 20 KB to 50 KB. How do I set that?
Type 20 in Min and keep 50 in Max. Most photos land between the two on their own; if a small one comes out under 20 KB, empty bytes are added so it reaches the minimum, and the page tells you.
Which forms use 50 KB?
Many do. The SBI PO and SBI Clerk notices ask for a photograph of 20–50 KB at 200 × 230 pixels, and the thumb impression is 20–50 KB too. The exam pages on this site list each one with its source.
Is my photo uploaded?
